About Us

The Sam Chase Foundation

On April 22, 2020, the Chase Family lost our beloved son and big brother Samuel Baxter Chase. We loved him deeply and we miss him so. Sam was a sweet, loving, goofy, fun, and protective brother to Carter, Sydney and Jackson. All the kids looked up to Sam and he had a special bond with each of them. As a son, Sam was kind, loyal, hardworking, and genuine. We miss his bright smile and frequent laugh. Sam loved us, we loved him, and all of us knew it. We are thankful for that and have no regret for words left unsaid.

Like many young adults, Sam struggled to find his path in this challenging world. He got tied up in the knot that is early adulthood. We have formed this fund to raise awareness of the dangers of fentanyl as well as connect young adults to resources they need to thrive. We will spread awareness about fentanyl and the dangers of this lethal drug epidemic. Along with fentanyl awareness, we want to shed light on the underlying factors that can lead to poor coping mechanisms. Our vision is for young adults to see the world as a promising, hopeful place that is full of opportunity and excitement. We are granting scholarships to provide opportunity and enable young adults to reach their potential regardless of their financial situation.

Thank you for helping us honor Sam by helping young adults find a compelling future and become aware of the dangers of fentanyl. Sam had a huge heart and we are carrying on his legacy by spreading awareness and supporting others. Sam believed that everyone had a place in this world and we want to ensure that every young adult finds their place and has the education they need about our current drug epidemic . We will support those who intervene at the critical time, to highlight options, and nudge young adults onto a path of opportunity.

In the past three years, SCF has delivered fentanyl awareness presentations to most middle and high schools in Siskiyou County, and shared resources with parents and teachers on how to talk about the dangers of fentanyl. In an effort to raise awareness of the realities of the new drug landscape, SCF has funded national research and contributed over $80,000 to partner organizations focused on fentanyl awareness. In addition, SCF supports young adults by helping them move forward and find their path.
